About me:
Traveling the world enhances the personal journey one has from with in. I started my art career at 26 with a BFA at CCAD, focus in Glassblowing and Small Scale Metals. With my first degree a BS in Biological Anthropology from The Ohio State University. I received my MFA at Kent State University, where I also taught advanced glassblowing and intro to glass courses for three years. My work seeks to highlight my studies in higher education, with my travels and experiences gained first hand. Below is a bit of my amazing and ever-changing journey in glass. In 2011, I was awarded a full student work scholarship through CCAD to attend classes at PGC Pittsburgh Glass Center under american glass sculptors, Rik Allen and Shelley M. Allen. In 2012 I received a Internship as a Glass Studio Tech, the Internship at Starworks Glass in Star, NC under Nick Fruin and Eddie Bernard of WetDog Glass. In 2012 served as TA to Glass I & II classes at CCAD. Worked as glass assistant to Chris Harman, 2011-2013 and served as Glass Studio Tech for CCAD from 2011-May 2013, as well as Jewelry Tech in 2012. 2013 my glass sculptures were nominated for the Windgate Fellowship Award for my work in sculptural glass. In May of 2013, a series of my Mokume-Gane jewelry rings were shown digitally at the SNAG conference in May (Society of North American Goldsmiths). In march I was a visiting artist at the GlassAxis, in Columbus, Ohio for "Trey Snowdon's Sculptural Ways" demo. Post CCAD, I spent my summer working for a wonderful private glass business, Crystal Remembrance, before starting my journey at Kent State University for my MFA. In 2015 my glass work was on display at the president of Kent State Universities home, as well as the Hocking Glass and Ceramic Invitational in Hocking, Ohio. In May I was awarded a full scholarship to attend the well known Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, Washington for a summer workshop. In August, three of my mixed media glass sculptures were selected to display at the Ohio Craft Museum for the "Fresh Perspectives, Ohio Emerging Artist Show" , in Columbus Ohio. In April of 2015 I became a fully represented artist at the Sherrie Gallerie in the Short North of Columbus, Ohio. In 2016 I completed my MFA in glass at KSU, and was awarded the Hot Glass Coordinator Assistantship to the Pendland School of Crafts in Bakersville, North Carolina for sessions 1-3. Where I served as TA for the hot glass classes, and glass coordinator assistant for all glass classes under Nick Fruin. In May I traveled to Columbus, Ohio to CCAD as a visiting artist in glass. In June my early sculptural work was juried into a traveling show in conjunction with Art for Life, and columnated for a show at the Columbus Museum of Art. In early 2017 I was nominated for the Saxe Emerging Artist Lecture at the 46th annual GAS conference. In March I traveled to Kirkwood College in Iowa to give a lecture and day of demos as a visiting artist. In August I went to Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, as a guest artist for Jeff Ballard's session 6 class, and Hocking College in 2018 and 2020, 2017-19 I worked in Cincinnati, Ohio for a non profit glass company as the lead designer.
